Cover Reveal

I’m so excited to finally be able to share the cover for ‘Desperately Seeking Heaven’ due for release on 27th August 2013!  What do you think?

 Desperately Seeking Heaven

I know I’m biased but I think it’s lovely!  I had to prepare an art brief for the cover designers where I came up with a few suggestions for the content, colours, styling etc.  It was the first time I’d ever done one so to be honest I didn’t really have a clue what I was doing, but after a bit of brainstorming I was able to jot down a few tentative ideas and once I started all sorts of wonderful possible scenarios popped into my head.  Most of which involved gilt and gold and glitter… Tacky, moi?

I was really eager to see which of my ideas the designers would use and when I had my first peak of the cover I was overwhelmed.  They’d got it spot on.  It didn’t bear any relation to the art brief I’d done (thank goodness – looking at it again now I realise it was absolute rubbish and I don’t have a second career in graphic design waiting for me) yet it was absolutely perfect.  So I can’t take any credit for the wonderful cover, but I do think it sums up the novel beautifully; fun, flirty and deliciously romantic.

Here’s the official blurb too:

Love always comes when you least expect it, at least that’s what PA Alice Fletcher tells herself as she looks forward to another Friday night of trash telly and wine-for-one. But what happens when the unexpected is daytime TV crush Jimmy Mack, and he’s sitting on your couch watching the news…of the accident that claimed his life? Soon, Alice finds her ordered life turned upside down by helping Jimmy right the wrongs of his life so he can cross over to the ‘other side.’ But most unexpected of all is Alice’s growing realisation that her gorgeous ghost has taken up residence in her heart as well as in her home.

A Book Launch!

Oops, there go my good intentions at updating the blog regularly, but I do have a good excuse. I’ve been cracking on with book two, or at least trying to (it’s going a lot slower than I would like), but I’m determined to seriously crank up my word count over the next week or two.

I did have some lovely light relief this week when I attended the book launch of fellow Carina debut author, Amy Bird, in London. Amy read from her novel, Yours is Mine, a psychological thriller in which two women trade lives and it sounds an absolutely intriguing premise. I can’t wait to read this one. Yours is Mine was released yesterday and you can read more about it here.

It was a lovely evening with a cake (how fabulous is that?), Prosecco and book readings. Now that’s my kind of party!

It was also a wonderful opportunity to meet with some of the lovely Carina editors and fellow Carina authors, Nina Harrington and Annie Lyons.

In other news, I’ve had a sneaky peak of my cover for ‘Desperately Seeking Heaven’ and it’s absolutely beautiful. I can’t wait to share it .

It’s Good To Be Back

Hello and welcome to my new website and blog!

I’m very excited to be back blogging, it’s been a while and in some ways it feels like turning up late to a party and realising everyone’s been and gone home!  But I’m really looking forward to picking up where I left off four years ago, when I was probably wittering on about writing, books, cake and Strictly Come Dancing.

Anyway, we’ll skip over the missing years when I’m sure I did lots of interesting things other than indulging in all of the above, to bring you up to date with where I am now. Did I mention I have a two book deal with Carina UK?  Oh, I did! Are you sure?  Anyway, some things are definitely worth repeating.  Although I promise not to make a habit of it on the blog…

So… my debut novel, ‘Desperately Seeking Heaven’ will be out with Carina UK at the end of August and I’m currently working on my second novel.

This site and blog is still a work-in-progress so please come back (she says with only a hint of desperation!) for all the latest updates.
